Janggi (Korean Chess)
Fancy a game of Janggi, Korean chess?
Janggi is Korea's traditional strategy board game, in which Cho and Han each protect their general. Tap a piece and dots show where it can move, so you can start even if you are still learning the rules. Play the computer (Easy or Normal) or take turns with a friend on one phone. It follows Korean rules, and house rules can differ a little by region or club.

How to play
- Choose vs Computer (Easy or Normal) or 2 players.
- Pick your setup for the Horses (馬) and Elephants (象) — four arrangements to choose from.
- Cho (green) moves first. Tap a piece to see dots where it can go and outlines on pieces it can capture.
- Checkmate the opposing general to win.
Tips
- The Chariot (車) is the strongest piece — open its path early.
- A Cannon (包) must jump over exactly one piece to move, and cannons can never jump over or capture each other.
- When you are in check, your general flashes red and only moves that stop the check are allowed. Made a mistake? Tap Undo.
