Reaction
The moment the screen turns green, how fast can you react?
This is the simplest way to check how quick your reflexes are. Wait on the red screen, and the instant it turns green, tap. Your time is shown in milliseconds (ms), or thousandths of a second.

How to play
- Tap Start, and the waiting screen begins right away.
- While "Wait…" is showing, hold still and don't tap.
- When the screen turns green and says "Now!", tap as fast as you can.
- Once your reaction time appears, tap again to start the next try. There's no limit, so keep going as long as you like.
Tips
- The moment it turns green is random every time, somewhere between 1.5 and 4 seconds. If you tap too early, you'll see "Too soon!" and start over with no score. The trick is to tap only after you see the color.
- A short beep sounds when the screen turns green. Keep the sound on so you can react with your eyes and ears together.
- On a computer you can also use the space bar or Enter key. Try comparing your finger-tap times with your keyboard times.
What it practices
Quick reflexesPractice moving the instant something appears, again and again.
Sustained attentionKeep watching until the end, even though you never know when the screen will change.
Impulse controlHolding back until the green appears is practice in waiting, too.
Great for
- Anyone who wants a quick way to wake up their focus
- Families and friends who want to see who's fastest
- Anyone curious how their reaction time changes from day to day
Good to know
Reaction time shifts a little every day depending on how you feel. Try several times in a row to find your fastest time, and play around the same time each day to learn your own baseline.
